Rise of the Footsoldier: Retribution – From the Streets of Essex to the White Isle
Rise of the Footsoldier Comes to Ibiza
Ibiza is famous around the world for its clubs, DJs, beaches and unmistakable Balearic atmosphere — but this summer the White Isle is heading to the big screen for something altogether different.
Rise of the Footsoldier: Retribution arrives in cinemas on August 28, bringing the long-running British crime franchise to Ibiza.
The newly released official artwork gives us our biggest taste yet of what is coming, with Craig Fairbrass once again front and centre and a distinctly warmer, Mediterranean backdrop signalling a new setting for the Footsoldier story.
For IbizaClubbingGuide, however, there’s another reason we’ve been following this one closely.
Parts of Retribution were filmed right here in Ibiza.
And when one of Britain’s best-known crime film franchises comes to our island, we couldn’t simply ignore it.
From Essex to the White Isle
For years, Rise of the Footsoldier has built a cult following with its uncompromising depiction of the British criminal underworld.
But Retribution takes that familiar Footsoldier attitude somewhere very different.
Ibiza.
For those of us who know and love the island, seeing Ibiza used as a major film location is always special.
We’re accustomed to seeing images of packed dancefloors, superclubs, sunsets and beautiful beaches travelling around the world. Retribution presents another side of the island entirely, using that unmistakable Mediterranean setting as the backdrop for the latest chapter of the Footsoldier story.
It’s another reminder of just how visually spectacular Ibiza can be.

Naturally, we couldn’t let the occasion pass without bringing some music into the story.
The Rise of the Footsoldier films have featured some absolutely iconic dance records over the years — tracks that instantly transport many clubbers back to another era.
So we decided to celebrate that musical history in the way we know best.

Two Very Different Worlds With One Important Connection
At first glance, IbizaClubbingGuide and Rise of the Footsoldier might appear to occupy completely different worlds.
But there’s actually a natural connection.
Music.
Dance music has played a memorable role throughout the Footsoldier series, while Ibiza’s own story has been shaped by generations of house, rave and electronic music.
With Retribution bringing the franchise to Ibiza, it felt like the perfect opportunity for us to celebrate that connection.
It’s also something a little different for IbizaClubbingGuide.
We spend the season bringing you the biggest parties from Hï, Pacha, Amnesia, Ushuaïa, DC10, UNVRS and Eden, while also championing Ibiza’s smaller venues and grassroots scene.
But Ibiza culture stretches far beyond the dancefloor.
Film, music, fashion, art and entertainment have all been influenced by this extraordinary little island — and whenever Ibiza finds itself in the international spotlight, we want to tell that story too.
